Blogger Collab: Jessica Christ

Most 15 year-old girls spend their off days at the mall crushing on boys and sneaking into movie theaters. But that isn’t the case with Jessica Christ, a photographer and fashion blogger from Switzerland. She’s a rarity in the blogosphere in that she prefers to be behind the camera than in front. I’ve admired her lookbook posts for a while now, so I was super excited when she reached out and wanted to shoot some of my pieces.

For this blogger collab, I sent Jessica the cosmic ritual dress and the vegan leather sleeve shortstop tee. To no surprise, she styled the pieces to perfection and the resulting photos were ah-mazing. If Jessica can make this kind of magic at just 15 years-old, I can only imagine what we can expect from her in the future!

Neighborhood Watch: Pete’s Print Shop

Neighborhood Watch

I’ve been working on a series of graphic tops, and I cannot wait to debut them on the site next month! In the meantime, I thought I’d share a little behind the scenes look at our production.

Pete's Print Shop

I took the L-train over to Williamsburg yesterday and paid a visit to our buddies at Pete’s Print Shop- they’re the folks who will be screen printing the the tops for us. For this visit, we were working on the Tux Tomboy Tank.

Pete's Print Shop

Shown above is what a screen looks like. Basically, the water-based ink is processed through the screen and then applied onto the fabric using the machine below.

The finished product:

We’ll be dropping the first batch of graphic tops on the site next month. Stay tuned!

Blogger Collab: Lua Perez of Le Happy

These days it seems that everyone and their cousin is a fashion blogger. In fact, the term is growing a bit tired. The truth is that there is only a handful that provide the credentials to make the job both profitable and respectable amongst the fashion elite. It takes serious photography skills, writing chops, and a signature personal style to gain a following. Just look at Peruvian style blogger Luanna Perez, but you may just know her as Lua.

Lua’s blog Le Happy has gained tremendous following since its inception in 2009. The fashion student and NYC resident is known for her fiery red tousled locks and her signature grunge “just got out of bed” style. Le Happy has all the components a true fashion blogger needs: high quality photography, a signature style, and loads of personality. She even translates her daily postings into Spanish. ¡Que magnífico!

For this blogger collab, I sent Lua a pair of my supernova leggings in greyscale. When she said it was her favorite piece from my line, I just knew she would whip up a ridiculously sick outfit. Lua paired ‘em with a long sleeve sweatshirt layered over an oversized military vest, and added a pair of platform boots. Of course, let’s not forget her signature fire read locks- the perfect compliment to every one of her ensembles.

What to wear: All Black Everything

An everyday go-to amongst many, black is a color that can never do wrong. Personally, I’m much more of a grey-wearing individual, but my wardrobe has definitely blacked out a bit since moving to NYC. Why is it that New Yorkers wear so much black? I think a big reason is fear of staining your clothes while riding the subway or grabbing a drink on the go, at least that’s a concern for me. Then there’s your winter coats and jackets that must be neutral, otherwise they won’t get much use. I mean, how often can you wear a cobalt blue trench coat without looking like Paddington Bear? Not very. Below are a few of my favorite black things.

A. Count your lucky stars with this ah-mazing clutch wallet by Comme des Garcons. B. These statement-making spike earrings are double sided for twice the radness. C. An oversized scarf is an everyday essential, and I’m loving this skull-covered one. D. Channel your 60′s love child with these super cute circle sunnies. E. I bought these headphones last year and they are uber soft and comfortable. F. Tell your liver to fuck off with this hilarious flask. G. These jeweled covered heels are heaven sent! Plus the higher the heels, the closer to god. H. A friend rocked this brass necklace the other day, and it looked stunning. It’s part art deco, part steam punk, and every bit chic. I. Bad hair day? Put a turband on it. This studded piece is a personal favorite. J. For a new little black dress, opt for our new crisscross dress which features cross-back straps and a sweetheart neckline. K. This vegan leather belt features a studded bow and adds the perfect finishing touch to any ensemble.

Spotted: Rachel Lynch Tastes the Rainbow

In case you’re living under a rock, it’s fashion week here in NYC! Tons of power editors and bloggers are trotting about, which can make it very difficult for one to stand out. Unless of course, you’re Rachel Lynch, then it’s pretty easy. She’s the 21 year-old platinum blonde pixie behind the blog I Hate Blonde who is known for her head-turning ensembles. It’s no wonder the Brooklyn resident decided to take our Cosmic Velvet Ritual Dress out for a spin during the fashion week festivities. Rachel paired the rainbow-hued number with Jeremy Scott sunnies, a faux fur coat, and sky-high boots. Girls, take notice… this is how it’s done!

Get in line for the latest addition to the O.P.O.P. family: the ten hut series! The trio of summer-staples includes a killer pair of leggings, a crisscross bralette top, and a crisscross dress.
